My name is Matthew Barker, and I am very excited to be returning to Davie High School for my ninth year of teaching. I am a native to Winston-Salem, North Carolina and graduated from Reagan High School in 2008 (but don't hold that against me). From there I was able to attend my dream school, Wake Forest University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Secondary Education.
In addition to my work in the field of education, I also have many extracurricular pursuits I engage in on a regular basis, both athletic and artistic. In terms of athletics, I ran on the varsity cross country and track teams throughout high school and have practiced the martial art of Taekwondo since just before my eighth birthday. Currently I am a fourth degree black belt in Taekwondo. My primary extracurricular hobby is music. I have been playing guitar since Christmas 2006 and have been actively learning how to record and mix music since Fall 2019. I currently assist in leading worship at my local church.
